Educating With Love And Without Compromise

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

Educating with Love and Without Compromise is the stirring, heart-wrenching tale of educating children in one of the most impoverished and crime-ridden communities in the nation. It is one educator's story of returning home to provide hope, education, and leadership to a school, a community, and children who far too many people and even the system itself had given up on. Faced with challenges ranging from children forgotten by society and neglected at home, to teachers and bureaucrats who question the investment of time and resources in certain schools and communities, Educating with Love and Without Compromise is the story of one man's struggle to prove that children can succeed in struggling schools and rise from troubled communities. This easy-to-read, enjoyable tale is sure to both inspire and empower everyone that cares about and loves children. Among immense poverty, incompetent and uncaring teachers, an apathetic system, and an ever expanding, deadly drug turf war, Darryl Gilliam has come back "home" to lead the education of over 1,000 elementary school students. Faced with these challenges, he is armed with two core beliefs about the education of children. First, they must always have expressions and examples of love in and around their lives. Second, that under no circumstances should educators and adults ever compromise high expectations when it comes to the learning and lives of their students. Armed with these two core beliefs, boundless energy, and a focused plan for educational change, Gilliam works to inspire the same sense of passion and commitment around those around him as he embarks on a personal and professional journey that will take him beyond the walls of the school. Educating with Love and Without Compromise is a heart-wrenching, uplifting tale that will bring its readers into the real, often unglamorous work of educating children who often sit on the margins of classrooms, schools, and society. The Sentimental Education Of The Novel

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

"Cohen draws on archival research, resurrecting scores of forgotten nineteenth-century novels, to demonstrate that the codes most closely identified with realism were actually the invention of sentimentality, a powerful aesthetic of emerging liberal-democratic society, although Balzac and Stendhal trivialized sentimental works by associating them with "frivolous" women writers and readers."--BOOK JACKET.

Love Without Compromise

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

This book is a collection of chapters by co-authors of one family securing a contextual legacy that remains and that it is entrenched in transparency, honesty, respect, values, ethics, faith, principles, co-existing, acceptance, and being able to live together in unity, peace, and harmony. They are major intangible things that form cornerstones of true wealth (even without money) and they are part of the legacy that Christina Agatha Cooper (b.1923-d.2004) successfully passed on to her children and grandchildren. Like many unsound heroes doing a great job at the grassroots levels (mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friend, entrepreneurs, social workers, and the list goes on) but they themselves might never become visible because they might not have a platform or voice, Christina Agatha Cooper, in her lifetime experienced the same. The truth is that champions are made in secret, not when they stand on a box and receive a medal. That is the crowning moment of their aloneness, their public recognition of multiple years of hard work, dedication, persistence, and slow rise. Then we applaud. We celebrate. We express our appreciation for them. We cheer them on to continued success. Some champions, however, never make it that far. Christina Agatha Cooper was one of them. This book is hers. It is dedicated, however, to the unsound heroes like her who from day to day are rolling up their sleeves in the trenches and getting things done, whether it is for their own children or for the children of others. Readers will come to understand in this book that it takes courage to accomplish such. It takes living with a purpose. It takes commitment and vision. Readers will grasp, learn, embrace, and understand that where we are today is far removed from where we were as a people, a nation, and a country. To the many unsound heroes like Christina Agatha Cooper aspiring to leave behind a contextual legacy that attempts to seal the bond of unity among humanity, you're worthy of all respects. Thank you. You are a part of this book - Love Without Compromise.
