Turning Points In Play Therapy And The Emergence Of Self

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

Effective clinical practice requires a thorough understanding of how turning points surface in the play therapy process. These moments can indicate a change in a child's thought or behaviour. The play therapist is the facilitator of these moments and this book will provide guidance on how they can promote these moments. This edited collection demonstrates successful implementation of the author's proven Play Therapy Dimensions Model. Each chapter uses this framework, as well as other theories, to discuss the markers that can reflect shifts and growth in a child's development. Full of applied guidance, this book will prove to be invaluable for practitioners, instructors and students.

Biography And Turning Points In Europe And America

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

This sociological collection advances the argument that the concept of a turning point expands our understanding of life experiences from a descriptive to a deeper and more abstract level of analysis. It addresses the conceptual issue of what distinguishes turning points from life transitions in general and raises crucial questions about the application of turning points as a biographical research method. Biography and turning points in Europe and America is all the more distinctive and significant due to its broad empirical database. The anthology includes authors from ten different countries, providing a number of contexts for thinking about how turning points relate to constructions of meaning shaped by globalization and by cultural and structural meanings unique to each country. The book will be useful across a wide range of social sciences and particularly valuable for researchers needing a stronger theoretical base for biographical work.

The Turning Point In The Gospel Of Mark

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

Based on linguistic and thematic links in the narrative, The Turning Point in the Gospel of Mark argues that the twin pericopae of Peter's confession (8:27-38) and the Transfiguration (9:2-13) together function as the turning point of the Gospel and serve in a Janus-like manner enabling the reader to see the author's main focus: the identity of Jesus and the significance of that reality for his disciples. Peter's confession of Jesus as Messiah faces backward toward the Prologue (1:1-13) and functions as a mid-course conclusion. The declaration by God on the mountain faces forward and foreshadows the end-course conclusion (14:61-62; 15:39; Son of God). Jesus, in response, teaches that the Son of Man must suffer and die before being raised from the dead (8:31). Christologically, the images of Messiah, Son of Man, and Son of God converge and present Jesus, the crucified, as king, ushering in the kingdom of God in power (9:1 acting as the key swivel between the twin pericopae). When one is confronted with this Jesus, though there remains something elusive about him and the kingdom of God in the narrative, the only wise decision (after calculating the costs, 8:34-38) is to follow.

Turning Points

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

In this popular introduction to church history, now in its third edition, Mark Noll isolates key events that provide a framework for understanding the history of Christianity. The book presents Christianity as a worldwide phenomenon rather than just a Western experience. Now organized around fourteen key moments in church history, this well-received text provides contemporary Christians with a fuller understanding of God as he has revealed his purpose through the centuries. This new edition includes a new preface; updates throughout the book; revised "further readings" for each chapter; and two new chapters, including one spotlighting Vatican II and Lausanne as turning points of the recent past. Students in academic settings and church adult education contexts will benefit from this one-semester survey of Christian history.

Real Time Detection Of Turning Points In Financial Time Series

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

Research paper from the year 2012 in the subject Mathematics - Applied Mathematics, grade: 5.5, ZHAW Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, language: English, abstract: As a consequence of the recent financial crisis, institutions are increasingly interested in identifying turning points in financial time series. The accurate and early identification of these turning points can result in the optimal exploitation of the invested capital and profit maximization. Most existing methods for the real-time identification of turning points have proved unreliable and therefore the need to develop a cutting-edge model. The DFA methodology of Prof. Dr. Marc Wildi is one promising real-time procedure that seeks to solve this problem. The purpose of this thesis is the evaluation and comparison of different variants of the DFA procedure in order to find a method for the effective identification of turning points in important financial time series, such as the S\&P 500 and the EUROSTOXX 50 and their implied volatility indices (VIX and VSTOXX, resp.). Further, this thesis aims to develop a suitable investment strategy based on the obtained results. For the purpose of this thesis, the time series mentioned above were analyzed between the years 1990 and 2011, using the last year as out-of-sample data. Frequential analysis using Fourier transforms as well as different variants of the DFA-algorithm were applied in order to identify the desired turning points. The results obtained from these analyses of the S\&P 500 and EUROSTOXX 50 time series show a considerable out-of-sample investment return which verifies the validity of the model. On a second level of analysis, using the implied volatility indices it was possible to generalize the model and thereby verify the initial results. Moreover, with the help of the development of further investment strategies it was possible to normalize profit returns, maintaining a semi-constant growth, which is usually preferred by financial institutions. Finally, given the structural similarities of the two main financial series examined, whose clear profile was only observable using the DFA system, it was possible to combine both time series using the daily exchange rate as a cyclical and structural catalyst, thus achieving a deeper thrust of the model. This all was possible by highlighting the flexibility of the DFA model for real-time analysis of financial time series and its practical application as a tool for investment analysis. Therefore, the DFA Modell enables an accurate real-time identification of tuning points in financial series.

Acoustics Of Layered Media Ii

Available: macOS, Windows, Android, Tablet

Acoustics of Layered Media II presents the theory of sound propagation and reflection of spherical waves and bounded beams in layered media. It is mathematically rigorous but at the same time care is taken that the physical usefulness in applications and the logic of the theory are not hidden. Both moving and stationary media, discretely and continuously layered, including a range-dependent environment, are treated for various types of acoustic wave sources. Detailed appendices provide further background on the mathematical methods. This second edition reflects the notable recent progress in the field of acoustic wave propagation in inhomogeneous media.
